What to do if your craft project doesn’t turn out the way you anticipated?

Attempts.jpg

The short answer is - try again!

Trust me, there is no shame in “failing” the first attempt and trying again when designing your own project. Use the first attempt as a guide. Keep adding details and improving as you go.

Look at these kittens for example. I know they are no masterpiece but they turned out to be just as cute and quirky as I imagined them to be.

I kept on slightly adjusting the pattern with every new attempt. Changed the size, shape and toy stuffing amount I used to make the kittens look better. Stitched the pieces together in different ways and different positions. I even kept on trying different yarn types and changed crochet hook sizes until I was satisfied with the end result.

If the thought of repeating and adjusting a pattern again and again bores you, then following a already written and tested pattern might be a better idea for you.

The interned is filled with beautiful, carefully crafted crochet patterns for all experience levels. Amending an existing project to fit your needs will be a lot easier and less time consuming than trying to design a project from the beginning to the end.

Also, don’t hesitate to contact the pattern designer if you are following their pattern step by step but still find yourself feeling stuck. Most crochet lovers (me including) will be more than happy to help you.

Don’t give up!
